You Are Going to Love Me and Scream
You Are Going to Love Me and Scream follows a photography student living in Providence, Rhode Island, who is still reckoning with a breakup that ended two years earlier. After encountering the “empty chair” exercise during a virtual therapy session, they move through the ambient spaces of everyday life: screens, commercial environments, fragmented memories, and versions of the self they are trying to leave behind.

Moving between domestic interiors, an online therapy platform, a mall, and arcades, the film traces an interior landscape shaped by displacement and lingering emotional residue. These physical and virtual settings are continually reframed through the protagonist’s movement across them, revealing a search for belonging within the diasporic experience.

As the protagonist attempts to address what remains unresolved, the film also explores linguistic displacement and plurality through on-screen text, which forms a parallel narrative space.

The film was screened at Minor Landscape, presented by CiLENS × Gassenprojects at Mal Seh’n Kino in Frankfurt, and at Kunstkneipe Schmetterling in Berlin in July 2026.

You See, This Is What Matters是一部实验短片,以一名坐在影院中观看香特尔·阿克曼(Chantal Akerman)的《我你他她》(Je Tu Il Elle)的酷儿观众为中心,并将这一观看行为与原片的片段交叠在一起。
You See, This Is What Matters is an experimental film that centers on a queer spectator seated in a theater, watching Chantal Akerman’s Je Tu Il Elle. The work overlays this act of viewing with fragments from the original film.

Through repetition and iteration, the film returns to a pivotal moment: the truck driver’s harassment of Akerman’s character, guiding her hand while stating, “you see, this is what matters.” By isolating and reworking this gesture, the piece interrogates gendered and sexual power, intimacy, and spectatorship.

The film was screened at the Emily Harvey Foundation, presented by Umarell in New York in May 2026.
