PIGSY is an Irish artist whose practice explores the psychological terrain of language, memory, identity and belonging through instinctive, gestural mark-making. Working across painting, mixed media and works on paper, his work confronts the tension between structure and chaos, discipline and emotional release, and the individual’s relationship to the collective.

Before becoming an artist, PIGSY trained and worked as an architect, and traces of that background remain embedded within his practice through ideas of structure, construction, and deconstruction. His process embraces spontaneity, imperfection, and fragmentation as tools for examining the subconscious and the lived experience of dyslexia, perception, and cultural conditioning.

Raised in a traditional Catholic household and educated through the Irish language, his work frequently examines inherited belief systems, memory, identity, and the psychological structures that shape human behaviour. Through raw gestures, fragmented language and layered imagery, each work becomes a site of discovery where instinct overrides intellect and meaning emerges through process rather than representation.

Drawing on personal experience while addressing universal themes, PIGSY’s work explores the spaces between belonging and exclusion, certainty and doubt, connection and isolation. Through painting, he seeks to understand the forces that shape us, the stories we tell ourselves, and the communities we build around them.

Recent solo exhibitions include Language as Wound, Silence as War (Dublin, 2025), Níl Brón Orm (Ajijic, Mexico, 2025), Tá Brón Orm (Mexico City, 2024), First Things Last (Málaga, 2024) and Lost in Thought (Dublin, 2023). He has participated in residencies and exhibitions throughout Ireland, Spain, Mexico, Brazil, and China.
