Valentina Bravo is a Chilean visual artist based in Finland. She holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad de Chile. Her work has been exhibited in Chile, Finland, and Denmark, including presentations at Juan Egenau Galería in Santiago, Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art in Helsinki, and Red Door Gallery in Copenhagen. Her recent exhibitions include Sediments of Summer at Levyhalli, Suomenlinna, Helsinki (2026), and Sótano at Syvä Gallery, Helsinki (2026), where she presented large-scale painted fabrics.

Bravo’s practice focuses on contemporary painting. Working primarily with oil painting, she uses figurative images drawn from everyday situations and places them within constructed environments to investigate how images can continuously produce and transform narratives through the medium.

Her work begins with personal interests and experiences, some shaped by living between Chile and Finland. These experiences function as starting points for an ongoing visual investigation. Through painting and imagination, narratives develop and shift through color, composition, scale, materiality, and how these elements interact with each other. Resulting works aim to remain open-ended, rather than proposing definitive answers.

At present, Bravo is also examining how these variables can operate within three-dimensional environments. While the painting scope remains central to her practice, she has increasingly explored what it would mean to include architecture and space in her art pieces.

Rather than considering painting on canvas as a definitive format, Bravo approaches it as an open and evolving process. She is interested in testing how painting can operate under different conditions, contexts, and forms. As she describes: “I´m not here to produce paintings in their final form, but to have more of an ongoing experiment painting lab where I can play with its context, scale, duration, or material form. Whatever that could lead me to more unusual images and art pieces. “

Through this process, Bravo continues to investigate how images transform across different forms and contexts, and how painting can generate narratives that extend beyond the artist’s initial intentions.
